Telkwa Community Church
Who we are:
-
We are a welcoming, friendly, compassionate church family. We are multi-generational with all ages from newborn to seniors. We gather to worship in unity as believers with many backgrounds and perspectives.
-
We celebrate during times of joy and grieve together during times of sorrow.
-
We care for everyone through friendship and prayer, sharing meals together, giving support during times of difficulties such as dropping off meals as a sign that someone is thinking of them, or providing a quilt that is a lasting hug.
-
We strive to reach out to our surrounding neighbours to let them know that we care. We participate in a community soup kitchen once a month.
-
We pull together to provide meaningful worship and spiritual direction using everyone's gifts no matter what stage of life they're in.
-
We are in the heart of the Village of Telkwa, a community of rural and quiet neighbourhoods in northwest BC, surrounded by God's amazing creation of forests, rivers, lakes and mountains. We are 15 minutes from Smithers, a town where we work and shop.
Accessibility:
-
Our building has three levels with an elevator giving access to each level. Our building entrance is wheelchair accessible, and there is accessible parking adjacent to the entrance.
-
Our washrooms are in the basement, with a stall suitable for a wheelchair in the women's washroom.
-
We offer space at the back of the sanctuary for those who need room to move.
-
Anyone is welcome to use pencil cases and colouring pages at anytime in the service. (They are on the back table in the sanctuary.)
-
We welcome all people with disabilities, neurodivergent people, and are open to suggestions to improve your experience in our church. Please let our greeters know what accommodations you need.
Our Church Denomination:
We belong to a wider family of churches called the Christian Reformed Churches of North America made up of more than 1000 churches in Canada and the US. As a denomination, we are involved in a number of areas that address the brokenness of life locally and globally.
STAFF:
We are currently in transition as our pastors, Joe and Michelle Ellis, have decided to make a change in their ministry. We are searching for the right pastor(s) to shepherd our little flock in Telkwa Community Church.
